Two Lancaster men will face charges in County Court for providing heroin to multiple people who overdosed – including a man who died.
Jessie Hernandez, 59, and Wilfredo Perez-Lopez, 40, recently waived preliminary hearings. District Judge Adam Witkonis ordered they be tried in County Court for felony drug delivery resulting in death and related charges.
Lancaster city police determined Perez-Lopez conspired with Hernandez March 30 in providing heroin to a 30-year-old man who died in the 500 block of Woodward Street. The Lancaster County Coroner’s office found fentanyl was involved in the death.
Around the same time, police responded to at least two other overdose calls believed to be connected to Perez-Lopez’s and Hernandez’s sales. Drug packaging found at one of those scenes matched that from the Woodward Street scene.
A day later, police overheard Hernandez talking about “serving” individuals who overdosed.
Police then obtained information on Perez-Lopez, also known as “Gordo,” including his cellphone number.
Lancaster city police Detective Stanley Roache filed charges, which were approved by Assistant District Attorney Barry Goldman.
