A three car crash temporarily closed the exit ramp from Route 222 North to Route 772 on Thursday, December 10, 2015 from 6:00 PM to 6:35 PM.
Traffic at the time of the crash was heavily congested, with traffic backed up on the exit ramp. Jessica Fultz, of Sinking Spring, PA, was traveling north on Route 222 North, exiting onto the Route 772 ramp and collided into the rear of a vehicle, which was stopped on the ramp, operated by Teresa Zapata, of Akron, PA. Zapata's vehicle was then pushed into the rear of a vehicle stopped in front of her. This vehicle was operated by Jason Heiser, of Akron, PA.
Fultz and Zapata were transported, by ambulance, to a local hospital for injuries sustained in the crash. Two passengers in Zapata's vehicle, Anna Zapata and Jomanny Guzman, both of Akron, were also transported to a local hospital for injuries sustained in the crash.
Fultz's and Zapata's vehicle were severely damaged and were towed from the scene.
Timely response of emergency responders and tow trucks, along with efficient and professional stabilization of the vehicles by the West Earl Fire Department limited the amount of time the roadway was closed to its absolute minimum.
Investigation into the crash continues.
