Driving Under the Influence (Crash Related)
West Earl Township, Pa – A West Earl Township woman is facing charges of driving under the influence of alcohol and other traffic related violations after being involved in a two vehicle crash.
On October 10, 2021 at 10:58PM, WEPD was dispatched for a vehicle crash located on Newport Road, right at the intersection for Sheetz. Both drivers complained of injuries and the vehicles were blocking the lanes of travel. West Earl FD and Rothsville EMS also responded. Glick’s towing responded to tow both vehicles after the crash investigation was completed.
During the investigation, Officers and other first responders could smell an odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from one of the drivers involved and also from inside her vehicle. That driver was identified as Sarah Thran (38YOA). Because Thran sustained potential injuries from the crash, Officer Blessing was unable to have Thran preform field sobriety tests. Thran was ultimately transported to Lancaster General Hospital for further medical evaluations.
Officer Blessing followed Thran to Lancaster General Hospital, where Officer Blessing read Thran the Implied Consent form. Thran agreed to provide a blood draw at the hospital. Thran’s blood will be sent to the Pennsylvania State Police laboratory for official testing. Once Officer Blessing receives Thran’s blood results, charges will be filed.
The public and media are reminded that all criminal charges are merely accusations and all subjects are innocent until proven guilty.
