Concerns Regarding Police Presence at the Cocalico School District on
September 7, 2021
As the Police Chief of the East Cocalico Township Police Department I am tasked with the responsibility for the safety and well-being of all school district staff, administration and most importantly the students of the Cocalico School District. The police presence at each building of the school district on September 7, 2021 was not to implement, enforce or dictate the wearing of masks by any individuals. It was, in fact, strictly for the safety of all who are present at the school.
Previous communication was received that could be perceived as a possible safety issue within the school district. It is my responsibility to analyze the information received and make decisions to ensure the safety of all individuals. Therefore, it was my sole decision to place officers at each building within the school district to ensure a level of safety that is expected and provided by the East Cocalico Township Police Department. At this time this safety issue has been resolved, but please be reassured that if any issue may come to light at a later time, our officers will maintain a professional presence when deemed necessary.
