Beards For Brothers 2021

The Quarryville Borough Police Department participated in the 2021 "Beards for Brothers" campaign alongside of over 20 other police and first responder agencies in Lancaster County. The campaign is a No-Shave November style campaign to help raise awareness for Cancer. This is the seventh year that Chiefs of Police have waived their departments’ facial hair policies allowing officers to grow beards through the month of November. Each year Officers select a first responder, an immediate family member of a first responder, or an organization from the community who is currently battling Cancer, or provides care to those battling cancer. This year the Beards for Brothers campaign will raise money for Kristopher Hurley, a member of the Lancaster County Special Emergency Response Team (S.E.R.T.) A portion of the money raised was also donated to A Week Away (AWA). AWA is a non-profit that coordinates and funds respite weeks for families who are battling a life threatening illness, with the goal of providing them the hope they need to continue their fight. Together, the participating agencies raised and/or donated over $15,200 for the cause. The Quarryville Police was honored to be able to participate and will continue to keep Kris Hurley and others battling cancer in our thoughts and prayers.
