♦ Update - The identify of the deceased driver has been released. William W. Fisher, 62, from Park Ln. in Holtwood was the driver who succumbed to injuries in the below crash.
The Pequea Township Police Department is investigating a fatal motor vehicle accident that occurred at approx.4:50 PM on 2/24/21 in the 3500 Blk. of Willow Street Pike South (Rt. 272) in Pequea Township.
Preliminary investigation shows that a 2013 Toyota Highlander driven by a 40 year old from Lebanon PA had pulled over onto the paved shoulder on the right side of the roadway. After the vehicle came to a stop outside of the travel lanes a 2009 Chevy HHR being driven by a 62 year old male from Holtwood PA, which was also traveling southbound, struck the rear of the Highlander.
The Highlander contained the driver and three passengers. An 11 year old male was transported from the scene to the hospital with non life threatening injuries. The driver of the HHR had to be extricated from the vehicle by the fire company. He was transported to the hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries. Their were no passengers in the HHR. The driver was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.

The crash occurred on a section of roadway that is a divided highway with two lanes in the southbound direction and a speed limit of 55 MPH. The PTPD was assisted on the scene by Lancaster EMS and volunteers from the West Willow and Willow Street Fire Companies. The roadway remained open during the investigation with travel restricted to one lane for approx. one hour.
