UPDATE Homicide investigation - 600 block of Hebrank Street

On August 20, 2021, at approximately 10:12 pm, officers from the Lancaster City Bureau of Police were dispatched to the 600 block of Hebrank Street for a reported shooting.   Officers arrived at the scene and found a male victim, with multiple gunshot wounds to the torso.   The victim was immediately transported to the hospital for treatment of very serious injuries.  Police have secured the scene and Detectives responded to conduct an investigation.   Investigators are currently processing the scene for evidence and interviewing witnesses.   They are also gathering video footage from around the area.  The investigation is in the very early stages and information is still being developed.


UPDATE AS OF AUGUST 21, 2021 - SHOOTING VICTIM HAS SUCCUMB TO INJURIES

The victim was treated at the hospital for life threatening injuries, but died of his injuries earlier this morning.   The victim has been identified as a 26 year old York man named Jomar Almestica.   The investigation into the homicide has continued through the night.   Based on the investigation to this point, investigators learned that there had been a party at a residence in the 600 block of Hebrank Street.   Investigators learned that an argument took place between subjects who were attending the party and shots were fired by one of the subjects, striking Almestica.   Investigators are working to identify the individuals who were at the party, including the suspect, as well as determining the circumstances that led to the shooting.
