On July 24, 2020, at approximately 0300 hrs., an unknown female suspect climbed onto the bottom floor of the construction elevator, located at the Lancaster County Courthouse at Grant Street. The suspect lit a fire using assorted paper and cloth materials. The fire was contained to the platform of the construction elevator and caused minor damage to the platform. A construction worker discovered the smoldering debris and the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Department was notified. Detectives from the Lancaster Bureau of Police conducted the investigation with the assistance of a Pennsylvania State Police Fire Marshal for assistance. The Fire Marshal determined that the fire was incendiary in nature and ruled the fire an arson. Video footage was obtained from several cameras around the area, including local businesses which is depicts the suspect walking from the area of the Courthouse.
