For the past two months, the Lancaster City Bureau of Police has been investigating ongoing incidents involving persons riding illegal dirt bike style motorcycles in and around the City. Many of the motorcycles are not lawfully registered through PennDot and are not legal to operate on city streets or local roadways and highways. Stolen and abandoned dirt bikes have been recovered in the City and surrounding areas. The Bureau of Police is also investigating two pedestrian struck vehicle crashes in the City of Lancaster over the last two months. Attached are photographs of several riders who have been associated with illegal activity or vehicle crashes under investigation. The Bureau of Police is requesting assistance from our partners in the community to identify these riders. Please submit information and tips via social media or by calling the Community Engagement Office at 717 735-1784 or 717 735-3369.
Update: 21 April 2021
The second incident involving a pedestrian fortunately did not result in any injuries. The pedestrian was able to avoid being physically struck by the dirt bike. This incident is still under investigation.
