Arrest

On Friday, June 15, 2018, an officer from the West Hempfield Township Police Department conducted a vehicle stop along Columbia Avenue at Minute Drive because a driver had made an illegal turn. 

The officer detected an odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle.

The officer then located a small plastic baggie containing marijuana in the center console of the vehicle.

The driver and registered owner, 36 year old, Christopher Gerald Astree, of Lancaster, PA and front passenger, 27 year old, Darnell J. Williams also of Lancaster both denied ownership of the marijuana that was located in the vehicle. 

Officers placed both individuals into custody without incident and transported them to the West Hempfield Township Police Department for processing.  

After processed Astree and Williams were released. 

On Monday, June 18, 2018, the West Hempfield Township Police Department filed the following charges against the driver, Astree at MDJ Miles Bixler's Office in Columbia, PA: One count of Possession of small amount of marijuana Section 780-113 A31i (M) , and  Obedience to traffic control signals Section 3111 a (S).

On Monday, June 18, 2018, the West Hempfield Township Police Department filed the following charges against the passenger Williams at MDJ Miles Bixler's Office in Columbia, PA: One count of Possession of small amount of marijuana Section 780-113 A31i (M).

All individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
