On Thursday, December 19, 2019 at 2114 hrs: Officers were dispatched to the 700 blk of Kames Hill Road for a domestic disturbance in progress. The victim, 28 year old from Lancaster, reported to 911 dispatchers that she had a fight with her boyfriend and that he pushed her out of their vehicle and fled the location. She further reported that her boyfriend was intoxicated and had their 4 and 6 year old children in the vehicle with him. A vehicle description was obtained from the victim and his direction of travel was provided to responding officers.
Officer Hartranft located the vehicle traveling on Marietta Ave near Prospect Road. A traffic stop was initiated and the vehicle was safely stopped. The children were found unharmed.
The operator was identified as Zachary Tyler Young (26) of Lancaster. Officer Hartranft observed signs that Young was intoxicated and conducted field sobriety tests, which Young failed to pass. He was taken into custody and transported to the police station for further testing/processing.
At the police station, Young submitted to a breath test and his B.A.C. was determined to be 0.121%
A criminal complaint was completed and Young was charged with Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol or Controlled Substances (2 counts) and Recklessly Endangering Another Person (M2). Young was later transported to the Lancaster County Prison for arraignment.
Young is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a Court of Law
