On Friday, November 30, 2018 at 2234 hrs; Officers were dispatched to E. New Street at Carriage Drive in Mountville Borough for a vehicle accident report. It was reported that a vehicle crashed into a pole at this location and the female driver was observed trying to drive away from the scene. Due to damages to the vehicle, the vehicle was unable to be driven away. The female driver then fled the scene of the crash on foot.
Officer Ryan McKernan arrived on scene and began his investigation. While on scene, a male subject approached the scene and reported that the vehicle was driven by his wife and that she was at their home on Carriage Drive. Ofc. McKernan went to the residence and located Jessica Lee Morgan (33). It was determined that Morgan had been drinking prior to the crash. Morgan failed field sobriety tests at the scene and was taken into custody for suspected DUI. She was transported to the police station for further testing. A breath test was administered and her B.A.C. was found to be 0.173%.
Morgan was processed and later released to her husband.
As a result of the investigation, Morgan was charged with Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol or Controlled Substance (2 counts); Driving While Operating Privilege is Suspended or Revoked (as a result of a previous DUI); and Duty to Give Information and Render Aid (Hit/Run Offense).
Morgan will be sent a summons to appear in court.
Morgan is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a Court of Law.
