On Monday, January 7, 2019 at about 12:10 PM, officers from the West Hempfield Township Police Department were dispatched for a one vehicle accident at the 2500 block of Ironville Pike, in West Hempfield Township.
Officers reported that 30 year old, Thomas Obrian Chant III, of Allentown, PA, while operating a 2007 Audi sedan, westbound along Ironville Pike, had failed to negotiate a curve in the roadway. Thomas drove the vehicle straight into the oncoming lane of travel. Thomas' vehicle then left the roadway, struck a concrete wall, and had flipped onto it's roof.
The driver reported that he did not know what had caused the accident, but believes it was a mechanical issue.
Officers located a marijuana grinder in the vehicle during their investigation.
The driver was transported to the Hospital for non-life threatening injuries.
Continuing on the same date, the following charges were filed against Thomas at MDJ Miles Bixler's Office in Columbia, PA: One count of Possession of drug paraphernalia Section 780-113 A32 (M), One count of Driving on roadways laned for travel Section 3309 A (S), One count of Driving vehicle at safe speed Section 3361 A (S).
All individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
