Fatal Traffic Crash

West Earl Township, Pa – September 26, 2020 at approximately 6:45 AM, West Earl Township Police were dispatched to a motor vehicle crash with entrapment at the intersections of Oregon Pike Route 272 and Newport Road Route 772, Shaums corner.

Upon officers arrival they found a two vehicles, a Ford Ranger Pickup truck and a Volvo Sedan, involved in the motor vehicle crash with significant damage. The driver of one of the vehicles was declared deceased by the Lancaster County Coroner Office. The driver of the other vehicle was uninjured. Drivers names are not being released at this time pending further investigation an notification to a next of kin..

The crash is still under investigation by the West Earl Police Department with the assistance of the Lancaster County Crash Team.

The roadway was closed for approximately 3 1/2 hours while the accident was being investigated. West Earl Police would like to thank the following agencies for their assistance; Lancaster County Crash Team, West Earl Fire Department, Rothsville Ambulance, and Wellspan Medics.

The cause of the accident is still under investigation and any witnesses to the accident are asked to contact Detective Ray at the West Earl Twp Police Department at 717-859-1411 extension 118 or Officer Fred Riccelli at extension 116.
