West Earl Police were dispatched to a report of a vehicle crash in the 400 Block of East Main Street (Route 23) on Sunday, January 7, 2018 at 10:10 PM.  Preliminary investigation found that a vehicle operated by John Bosley, age 23, of Leola, was traveling west in the 400 Block of East Main Street when his vehicle struck a loose horse.  It was found the horse broke free from Jonathan Petersheim, of Manheim, PA, as he was attempting to hitch the horse to a buggy in the 200 Block of East Eby Road, which is about 1.5 miles from the crash scene.

Bosley was transported to Lancaster General Hospital, by ambulance, for injuries sustained in the crash.  The horse died as result of the crash.

Investigation into the crash is continuing.
