Commemorating 150 Years of Service!

On March 25, 1872, Strasburg Town Council met and made a motion to appoint two or three suitable persons to act as police and to patrol the streets of the Borough of Strasburg as often as deemed necessary to preserve order.  On this motion, 150 years ago today, what is now the Strasburg Borough Police Department was born!

Since its creation, in 1872, the department has continued to transform and grow with the times.  As you can imagine needs are much different now than they were in 1872!  We have grown to become a department that operates 24/7, 365 days a year, currently employing 5 full-time and 3 part-time officers.  We constantly strive to enhance our department's ability to protect and serve our community and are always open to suggestions on how we may better serve you.

Throughout the rest of the year, we will offer occasional highlights from the department's history to you through our Crimewatch site.  Also being offered, for purchase, is our department's first ever challenge coin.  The challenge coin front features our 150th anniversary commemorative police officer badge and the back features our current uniform patch.  These are high quality, limited quantity coins.  The coins may be purchased in-person at the borough office Monday-Friday from 7:30 a.m.-4:00 p.m. for $15.00 or online through eBay ($17.95, includes shipping) for those who are not close enough to stop by.

Thank you to all the citizens who have supported our department throughout its existence!
