The operation of the Southern Regional Police Department is overseen by a three member Police Commission consisting of one Township Supervisor from both Conestoga and Pequea Township and an appointed citizen member. The citizen member alternates every two years between Conestoga and Pequea Township.
The current Commission consists of the following members:
Commission Chairman - Craig Eshleman (Conestoga Twp. Supervisor)
Commission Vice Chairman - Robert Race (Pequea Township Supervisor)
Commission Civilian Representative - Steven Yinger (Pequea Twp. resident)
The Police Commission and Department operates under the powers set forth in the Articles of Agreement established in 2003. The Articles of Agreement are currently approved through 2020. *Note that at the February Board of Supervisors meeting the Conestoga Township Board of Supervisors voted to terminate the agreement effective 1/1/2018. A letter stating as such has been sent to the Pequea Township Board of Supervisors and is awaiting there action.
Police Commission meetings are held the forth Tuesday of each month, except for November which is the second Thursday, at 7:00 PM in the Pequea Township Municipal building at 1028 Millwood Rd. Meetings are open to the public and the commission encourages citizens to attend and educate themselves on the operation and finances of THEIR Police Department.
