Thank you to everyone who donated life-giving blood during this friendly competition between fifteen police departments.  Overall, you donated 594 units of blood. That is fantastic!  And, thanks to all who donated in the name of the Quarryville Borough Police Department as we were the winners with 75 units of blood donated.  The photo is the official transfer of the award that the Quarryville Borough Police Department will be able to display until next January when the competition is repeated.  In the picture are two representatives from the Millersville University Police Department, who were the winners last year.  The very first winners were the Manhiem Township Police Department in 2019, the first year of this competition. Hopefully, next year we can add more police departments and obtain an even greater number of units of life-giving blood to assist our communities' needs.

In the photo from left to right are: Chief Clark Bearinger and Officer Cheryl Thompson from the Quarryville Borough Police Department, and Officer Chanthongthip and Lieutenant Howard Bowman from the Millersville University Police Department.

The Quarryville Borough Police Department will be competing in the 2021 Bleed Blue Challenge. January is National Blood Donor Month and in an effort to increase donations, the Penn Medicine LGH Blood Donation Center is hosting a friendly competition between Lancaster County Police Departments. There are fifteen (15) departments competing and whichever police agency has the most donations by January 29 wins a plaque that can be proudly displayed until the next year's competition.

To get things kicked off, there will be a blood drive for the challenge on January 7, 2021 (National Law Enforcement Day) at the Eden Resort from 11am to 7pm. Anyone can donate, but when you're there, let them know you have come to support the Quarryville Borough Police!

Use the following link to schedule an appointment for the Eden Resort event:

In addition to the event on January 7, there will also be other local blood drives during the month of January that donors can go to and support QPD. The list of dates, times and locations will be out shortly.
