Case

The Pequea Township Police Department is investigating an accident involving a bicyclist that occurred in the 2100 Blk. of New Danville Pike in Pequea Township.  The accident occurred on 4/6/21 at approx. 5PM.  A 66 year old male from Millerville was riding a bicyclist south bound when he was struck from behind by vehicle operated by a 29 year old female from Denver Pa.  The bicyclist was transported by EMS to the hospital with moderate injuries.  The vehicle driver was not injured.  The investigation into the events leading to the crash is in progress.  The New Danville Fire Company assisted PTPD and EMS on the scene.

Reminder - Pennsylvania law dictates that drivers of vehicles must provide at least four feet of distance between their vehicle and the bicyclist and pass at a prudent and safe speed.  Also, bicyclists must adhere to all rules of the roadway the same as a motor vehicle.  This includes riding on the right side of the roadway the same direction as traffic, stopping at stop signs etc.   As the weather finally improves more bicyclists will be on our roadways.  Please drive (and pedal) responsibly and share the road.
