The Southern Regional Police Department has charged a 13 year old male from Pequea township with Terroristic Threats and Disorderly Conduct following an investigation surrounding a disturbing social media post. At approx. 9PM on 11/15/18 the Southern Regional Police Department was made aware of a social media post with a photograph of a handgun laying on top of a school year book. The post was sent from the male to another student. The student notified their parents who notified police. The firearm was found to be a BB gun and no actual firearms were found to be in possession of the juvenile. After Consulting with the Lancaster County District Attorney’s Office and the Office of Juvenile Probation the male was charged with the above crimes and released to his parents. Local school officials were notified and steps were taken to ensure the safety of students. The Southern Regional Police Department applauds the actions of the student who made us aware of the post. These types of incidents will be taken seriously and we encourage anyone with knowledge of information regarding potential violence to notify police immediately.
