Alert Citizen Apprehends Thief in Penn Township

NLCRPD received a call from LCWC for a vehicle break-in in progress at the 6300 block of Bayberry Ave. LCWC advised the reporting party's husband had the male subject detained at the residence.
Arriving patrols located a suspect lying face down in the front yard of a residence with bystanders on top of him and controlling his arms. NLCRPD patrols restrained and cuffed the suspect, who was identified as a juvenile male, age 17, who resides at a Manheim area address.

During a search incident to arrest NLCRPD located the following items on his person a clear plastic sandwich-bag containing a small amount of a suspected controlled substance that appeared to be marijuana, pill bottle with the prescription label torn off, containing six green pills, currency ($250.53), a USA Gold cigarette box, and other miscellaneous items.

Reporting party stated at approximately 2210 hours he went out the front door to let his dog outside, when he exited the front door he heard a door to his vehicle slam and saw the suspect walking in his driveway between two parked vehicles and towards the sidewalk, appearing to leave the residence.

It was determined the subject was involved in thefts from vehicles in the vicinity and likely with unreported thefts that were remaining undiscovered. NLCRPD patrols transported the subject to the NLCRPD headquarters for Live Scan arrest processing and filed a juvenile allegation. Subject was released to the custody of his parents.
