On January 8, 2018 NLCRPD was dispatched to the intersection of Pierson Road and Rothsville Road for a reported hit and run crash involving a tan sedan and a white SUV. There were no reported injuries and the remaining vehicle was disabled and blocking traffic. Upon arrival the arresting officer observed a white Honda HRV with front end damage sitting in the left turning lane facing north on Pierson Road. The operator of the vehicle, was out of the vehicle and was standing in the grass adjacent to the roadway. She stated she was sitting on Pierson waiting to turn left onto Rothsville Road when she stated she was struck by a tan colored sedan operated by a skinny white male. The vehicle struck her on the passenger side of her vehicle leaving it immobilized. She stated the vehicle then continued south on Pierson Road. NLCRPD spoke with two witnesses, who stated they followed the tan sedan on Rothsville Road from the intersection of Oregon Pike located in West Earl Township. They both stated the vehicle was swerving over the center line of the roadway several times while travelling west on Rothsville Road the vehicles average speed was approximately 30-35 MPH, which is 10-15 MPH below the posted speed limit. Both witnesses stated the vehicle turned severely early and struck the stopped vehicle in the left turning lane of Pierson Road. Lancaster County Wide Communications gave a description of the sedan involved in the crash and NLCRPD apprehended the operator of the vehicle involved. The vehicle involved was a tan Chevrolet Cavalier and was operated by WILLIAM SKILLING JR.
SKILLING JR. was suspected of DUI and was transported to Northern Lancaster County Regional Police Department headquarters for Livescan and CPIN arrest processing breath testing. The breath sample result of .0172 was obtained from SKILLING JR.
