On July 4, 2021 at approximately 2:09am NHPD Officers were on routine patrol in the area of the 600 Block of West Main Street (Earl Township). Officers observed a vehicle coming toward them with the high beam headlights on. The vehicle never turned off the high beams as they passed. Officers began to follow the vehicle, which was traveling well under the speed limit. Officers stopped the vehicle and identified the driver as Dimere Williams (age 20 of Lebanon).
Officers observed an odor of burnt marijuana after approaching the vehicle. They could also observe an odor of alcoholic beverage coming from Williams. Williams admitted to smoking marijuana in his vehicle as he was driving. Williams was put through field sobriety tests, but was unable to complete them as demonstrated. Williams was placed under arrest for DUI and possession of marijuana. He later refused a blood test, which will automatically suspend his driver's license. Officers later discovered marijuana in the vehicle, related paraphernalia and empty beer cans. The above charges were filed as a result.
Williams is presumed innocent.
