On March 18, 2021 NHPD officers were on routine patrol in the area of the 600 Block of West Main Street (Earl Township). They observed a vehicle that was crossing over the lines. The vehicle also had a registration that had expired in February, 2021. Officers stopped the vehicle. The driver was identified as Octazia Johnson (age 28 of Lancaster).
Johnson admitted to officers that she had smoked marijuana earlier and provided officers with a medical marijuana card. Officers also observed a baggie of marijuana in her purse. Law requires any legal marijuana purchased must remain in the original container. Law also requires that you can't drive while under the influence of marijuana; even when it is prescribed.
Officers also observed signs of intoxication from alcohol. Johnson performed field sobriety tests, but was unable to complete them as demonstrated. She was placed under arrest for DUI and was taken for a blood test. Test results later showed that Johnson was under the influence of marijuana and had a BAC of .110%. It was also discovered that her driver's license was suspended. The above charges were filed as a result.
Johnson is presumed innocent.
