On November 18, 2020 at approximately 12:37 hours NHPD officers were on routine patrol in the 1000 Block of West Main Street (Earl Township). They came across a vehicle that had an expired registration plate. Officers attempted to stop the vehicle, which accelerated away when officers activated their lights and sirens. Officers were eventually able to stop the vehicle in a neighboring jurisdiction.
The driver of the vehicle provided a false name to officers, but was later identified as Tiffany Dougherty (age 40 of Reading). Dougherty was found to have a suspended drivers license and she also had a warrant for a prior charge of providing false ID to police. After taking Dougherty into custody, she was found to be in possession of over 3 dozen baggies of heroin. Dougherty was charged with the above offenses and was transported to Lancaster County Central Booking to await arraignment. Her bail was set at $25,000 cash. She was committed to Lancaster County Prison after failing to post bail.
Dougherty is presumed innocent.
