On Tuesday, February 5, 2019 at about 0053 hours Officer Pete Papadopoulos was on routine patrol in the area of the 3000 block of Columbia Avenue, Lancaster. He observed a Toyota Scion cross over the double yellow lines twice. He conducted a vehicle stop of the vehicle and identified the driver as Omar Baskerville, 45, of Columbia. The Officer observed that the driver's speech was slow and sluggish and he had trouble getting the documentation required by the Officer. Officer Papadopoulos conducted standardized field sobriety tests on the driver and the driver displayed signs of impairment. The driver was asked to submit to a chemical test of his breath and he consented. The breath result showed his BAC was .14%. Based on the Officer's investigation, he filed charges of Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol or Controlled Substance (general impairment and high rate of alcohol) along with Driving on Roadways Laned for Traffic. The charges will be filed at MDJ Keller's office.
