TRAFFIC ALERT AS OF 7:45 A.M., WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 8TH, 2021


The Manheim Township Police are on the scene of a two-vehicle crash on Route 222 South near the Landis Valley Road overpass in Manheim Township.  The crash involves a tractor trailer and an overturned dump truck.  As a result, one lane of Route 222 South is closed and will be until the vehicles can be removed.  Motorists should plan alternate routes of travel and expect delays in this area for the next hour.  Updates will be provided as they become available.

TRAFFIC ALERT AS OF 2:15 P.M., ON THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 2ND, 2021

The flooded Conestoga Creek, which closed Route 222, has since subsided.  The roadway is now fully open in both the northbound and southbound direction.

TRAFFIC ALERT AS OF 7:00 A.M., ON THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 2ND, 2021


The heavy rainfall has caused numerous Township roadways to become flooded.  Emergency crews have placed barricades up to close those roadways, as they are safe.  Despite this, there have been instances of vehicles still driving through the water-covered roads - some are getting stuck!  Please obey road closure signage.  If a roadway is completely covered in water, TURN AROUND, DON'T DROWN!  (even if there is no sign)

TRAFFIC ALERT AS OF 6:45 A.M., ON THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 2ND, 2021


RT 222 is shut in both directions due to the Cocalico Creek flooding.  This location lies between Manheim Township and West Earl Township.  All Route 222 southbound traffic must exit in Brownstown and all northbound traffic must exit at Oregon Pike.  It is expected to remain closed for hours!

Motorists must avoid Route 222 in this area and be prepared to extended travel along the alternate routes.  An update will be provided when the roadway opens.

TRAFFIC ALERT AS OF 3:35 P.M., ON FRIDAY, AUGUST 20TH, 2021


A car crash involving a tractor trailer and an overturned vehicle has partially closed Route 283 East between Manheim Pike and Route 30 in Manheim Township.  Emergency crews are on scene and expect the roadway to be restricted for an extended period of time.  Motorists should avoid this area and expect delays.  Alternate routes of travel should be taken.  Updates will be provided as they become available.

UPDATE 8/19/21 - PUP AND OWNER REUNITED!


At 1:53 p.m., on Thursday, August 12th, 2021, the Manheim Township Police Department was dispatched to the 700 block of Sterling Place in Lancaster Township, for a small female Pug running at large.  The pup was captured by officers, who are currently attempting to locate the owner/s.  Any person knowing the identity of the depicted Pug, or her owner/s, should call the Manheim Township Police Department at 717-569-6401 or provide information electronically by clicking "Submit a Tip" below.

UPDATE 8/17/2021 - POOCHES AND OWNER REUNITED!


At 7:26 a.m., on Friday, August 6th, 2021, the Manheim Township Police Department was dispatched to the 1000 block of North Lime Street in Manheim Township for two (2) stray dogs running at large.  Both were captured by officers, who are currently attempting to locate the owner/s.  Any person knowing the identity of these pups, or their owners, should call the Manheim Township Police Department at 717-569-6401 or provide information electronically by clicking "Submit a Tip" below.

TRAFFIC ALERT AS OF 4:30 P.M., ON FRIDAY, AUGUST 6TH, 2021


The two-vehicle motorcycle crash, which closed Columbia Avenue at Jackson Drive in Lancaster Township, has been cleared.  The roadway has fully re-opened.  An additional news post will be released in the near future, providing an update on the crash investigation.
