MTPD Participates in Shop With a Cop

9th Annual Shop With a Cop Draws Smiles

On Saturday, December 8th, 2018, the Manheim Township Police Department participated in the 9th annual Shop With a Cop program sponsored by the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Lancaster City.  The program was created by the congregation to allow children, many of whom have been affected by the criminal justice system in some way, to get to know police officers as people.  Police agencies from all over Lancaster County partake in the event.  Participants in the program and their families were given gift cards, assigned to a police officer to shop with, and transported to Walmart to purchase gifts using their cards.  The "loot" was then taken back to the church to be wrapped and used as Christmas gifts for the participating families.  The Manheim Township Police Department was pleased to participate in this event and we look forward to doing it again next year!
