MTPD Does Coffee With a Cop - COVID-19 Style! Check It Out!
Officers from the Manheim Township Police Department often partner with numerous area businesses and nursing homes / skilled care facilities to participate in the Coffee With a Cop program. An event is normally held every 2-3 months. The beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic was right around the time that another event was due to happen. Unfortunately, the social distancing and stay-at-home orders put forth by the Governor's Office and the PA Department of Health, made this Coffee With a Cop in-person visit an impossibility.
MTPD reached out to Country Meadows Retirement Community of 1380 Elm Avenue in Lancaster Township to discuss possible alternatives for making an event happen. It was decided that Country Meadows staff would meet with various residents interested in the Coffee With a Cop program, and have those residents provide a list of questions that could be answered by the officers. Those questions would then sent to the police via email. In turn, the officers would record their answers to these questions and provide the answers video back to the Country Meadows residents.
During the week of April 26th, 2020, four (4) officers from Manheim Township Police got together on a video teleconference call and answered the questions posed by the Country Meadows residents. They drank their coffee (or fruit punch) while doing so! See the YouTube video below to learn the interesting, and sometimes funny, questions posed to the police.
Special thanks to Jude Pringle for helping to get the questions to the officers!
