The Manheim Township Police Department is investigating a fatal crash involving a pedestrian in the 1400 Block of New Holland Avenue on Saturday, November 26, 2022. At 3:17 a.m., police, fire, and ambulance units were dispatched to a report that a pedestrian had been struck. Units arrived to find Gordon Kopf M/71 of Leola lying along the roadway unconscious and with serious injuries. He was transported to Lancaster General Hospital where he passed away. The driver of the striking vehicle, a Columbia man, remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators.
Chief Thomas Rudzinski stated, “This is an ongoing investigation. Anybody who witnessed the crash or has information that might be helpful is encouraged to call the Manheim Township Police Department at 717-569-6401 ext 0.”
