Numerous Car Break-Ins Solved After Teens Arrested In Two Different Stolen Vehicles

At 4:03 a.m., Thursday, January 24, 2019, an officer on routine patrol at the intersection of Wabank Road and Judie Lane in Lancaster Township, observed a silver Dodge Journey traveling with an inoperable license plate light.  The officer attempted to initiate a traffic stop and the vehicle fled from the officer by driving at high speeds.  At the intersection of Hershey Avenue and Fairview Avenue, the vehicle crashed into a curb, spinning the vehicle around, and disabling it.  The occupants of the vehicle fled on foot.  A 13-year-old passenger from Lancaster, PA was located and arrested.  It was determined that this 13-year-old juvenile stole the vehicle in question.  The juvenile was charged with Felony Vehicle Theft and taken to the Youth Intervention Center.  The other two (2) occupants were not located.

At 1:28 a.m., Friday, January 25, 2019, five (5) unlocked vehicles were entered along the following roadways:
- Livingston Lane
- Wyncroft Terrace
- Baron Drive
Witnesses reported seeing a Jeep Cherokee, with juvenile occupants, in the area at the time of the thefts.  Officers from the Lancaster City Police Department located the Jeep Cherokee and determined that it was stolen.  The Lancaster City Police attempted to stop the vehicle and the occupants fled on foot.  Moments later, the officers located and arrested a 14-year-old juvenile from Lancaster, PA, who had been driving the vehicle, and a 12-year-old juvenile from Lancaster, PA, who had been a passenger in the vehicle.  When questioned, the 14-year-old juvenile admitted to being the driver of the Dodge Journey listed above.  The 14-year-old juvenile was charged with Felony Vehicle Theft, five (5) counts of Theft From Motor Vehicle, Fleeing or Attempting to Elude a Police Officer, and three (3) counts of summary traffic violations.  The 12-year-old juvenile was charged with five (5) counts of Theft From Motor Vehicle.  Both juveniles were taken to the Youth Intervention Center.
