Around 6:00 p.m., on Wednesday, May 15, 2019, a resident of the 500 block of Kensington Road had their 1999 Mitsubishi Mirage stolen in broad daylight from outside their residence. The owner left the vehicle unlocked with the keys inside of it. Just prior to 8:00 p.m. the same day, the stolen vehicle was observed in the 700 block of Sterling Place after being involved in a crash. Witnesses on scene reported seeing five (5) juvenile males running from the car immediately following the crash. Manheim Township Police Officers responded to the location within minutes and were able to apprehend two (2) 15-year-old juvenile males running from the scene. Authorities with Juvenile Probation were contacted and advised of this incident but they declined to detain the suspects in the Youth Intervention Center. As a result, both were released to their parents with pending charges. The investigation continues into the identity of the other three (3) involved juvenile males.
As with other Vehicle Thefts and Theft From Motor Vehicle incidents recently experienced, the vehicle was UNLOCKED with the KEYS LEFT INSIDE OF IT!
We cannot stress enough how important it is to secure your vehicle by locking it and taking the keys with you!
REMEMBER, LIKE IT? LOCK IT!
