Special News Release – Fatal Crash in Manheim Township

The Manheim Township Police Department is currently investigating a fatal vehicle crash that occurred at 5:17 p.m. Friday, October 28, on Route 222 North at mile marker 33.0 in Manheim Township. A 69-year-old male from Lititz, PA was operating a motorcycle Northbound on Route 222. Witnesses said that the motorcycle had changed lanes and continued drifting off the right side of the road. The motorcycle struck a guide rail and the rider came off the bike. The motorcycle then continued on its own for several hundred feet before coming to a rest.
Police arrived and found a doctor and another witness performing CPR on the rider. The rider succumbed to his injuries at the scene. The Lancaster County Coroner’s Office responded to the scene and retained jurisdiction of the deceased. The roadway was closed for several hours while investigators conducted a crash reconstruction of the scene.
The Manheim Township Police Department is conducting the crash investigation.
