At 3:29 a.m., Sunday, December 16, 2018, Manheim Township Police were dispatched to a residence in the 400 block of Haverhill Road in Manheim Township for a reported fight in progress. Upon arrival, officers determined that the fight was actually a robbery that occurred in a shed to the rear of a residential property. The shed was equipped with portable heat, electricity, a front porch area, drywall, carpeting, couches, and beds, and is suitable for overnight accommodations.
The victim reported that he and two (2) other friends were inside the shed and were nearly asleep when several individuals forced their way into the shed and proceeded to assault the three (3) persons inside the shed. All three (3) victims had fresh injuries to their faces and heads. During the assault, one of the suspects took two (2) X-Box video game consoles, valued at $400.00 total.
One of the suspects was later identified as Darrin Michael Ortiz, M/20, of Columbia, PA. On Thursday, December 27, 2018, a criminal complaint was filed against Ortiz for Burglary, Criminal Conspiracy to Commit Burglary, Robbery, Criminal Conspiracy to Commit Robbery, Simple Assault, and Criminal Conspiracy to Commit Simple Assault and an arrest warrant was obtained. Ortiz remains a wanted person at this time.
