St. Patrick's Day Weekend Safety Initiative

As you prepare to head out for the festivities this St. Patrick’s Day weeekend, remember: Make a plan to get home safely before you ever head out for the party!  Impaired driving is not worth the risk of injury, death, jail, property damage or your money!

In 2016, 60 people lost their lives in drunk driving crashes during the St. Patrick’s Day holiday. Don’t become a statistic.

The LBPD will have an increased alertness for drug and alcohol-impaired drivers this weekend, as well as an increased presence.  We urge everyone to make safe and responsible decisions about consumption and driving.

Remember the life-saving message: Buzzed Driving Is Drunk Driving.

NHTSA’s mobile app, SaferRide, is available to allow people to call a taxi or a friend, and by identifying their location so they can be picked up and provided a safe ride home.
