Officer attacked by dog
On February 5, 2019 at around 10:29am, Officers were dispatched to the 200 block of East Main Street for a stray dog in custody. An officer arrived and found that the reporting person holding onto the dog by the collar. When the officer attempted to take custody of the dog, the dog attacked the officer biting the officer on both hands.
The dog then fled. Other officers arrived and tracked the dog until the owner was located. The dog is being quarantined by the owner and the incident is being forwarded to the State Dog Warden.
The officer that was bitten was transported by ambulance to a local hospital for medical treatment. After treatment the Officer was released from the hospital and is expected to fully recover.
