Pink Patch Project

Lititz Borough Police complete their first #PinkPatchProject

October 24, 2017 – Lancaster, PA – The Lititz Borough Police Department (LBPD) just finished their first #PinkPatchProject.   The #PinkPatchProject is an innovative public awareness campaign designed to bring attention to the fight against breast cancer and to support breast cancer research organizations and caregivers in combating the devastating disease.

The Pink Patch Project (PPP) is a collaborative effort between the Los Angeles County Police Chiefs’ Association and public safety agencies across the nation. The purpose of the initiative is to raise awareness about breast cancer and the importance of early detection and treatment in addition to raising funds for cancer research, treatment, and education through the sale of commemorative pink patches.  The LBPD became the 103rd law enforcement agency to join the PPP.  The PPP continues to grow as more agencies are added almost daily.  In 2016, participating Pink Patch agencies raised an estimated $320,000, all of which was donated to various foundations that support breast cancer research, awareness, or support.

The LBPD began selling a vibrant pink version of our police uniform patch in June and were completely sold out by mid-October.  During the entire month of October, LBPD Officers that fulfill the donation requirement will be wearing these pink patches on their regular police uniforms to stimulate conversation with the community and to encourage discussion with the public about the importance of early detection and treatment in the ongoing fight against the disease.

The LBPD is pleased to announce that we were able to raise $2731.23 through our #PinkPatchProject, which was donated to the Suzanne H. Arnold Center for Breast Health.    On October 24th, Sgt. Detz presented a check to the Suzanne H. Arnold Center for Breast Health to support them in their ongoing efforts to provide women with convenient, coordinated access to a wide range of breast health and imaging resources.
