DRIVING UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF ALCOHOL (DUI), PERIODS FOR REQUIRED LIGHTED LAMPS, DUTIES AT STOP SIGNS:
The LBPD patrol function has filed a criminal complaint against Matthew Edmund WEST, age 47, of Manheim, alleging the crime of Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol (DUI) and the summary traffic offenses of Periods for Required Lighted Lamps and Duties at Stop Signs.
On 07/16/2018 at 2:26 AM, an LBPD patrol officer stopped WEST's vehicle after observing it driving without headlamps illuminated, failing to stop for a posted stop sign and other observations of unsafe driving. Police subsequently discovered that WEST was under the influence of alcohol and he was taken into custody. WEST was transported back to the LBPD for the purpose of providing evidential breath samples to determine the amount of alcohol in his blood. WEST refused to provide an evidential breath sample. WEST was later released from custody and has been summoned to appear in DUI Central Court for preliminary arraignment and a preliminary hearing.
WEST is presumed innocent.
