The LBPD had filed criminal charges against Shane Richard PIETSCH, age 21, of Akron Fleeing or Attempting To Elude Police Officer, Recklessly Endangering another Person, Reckless Driving, Driving While Operating Privilege Is Suspended or Revoked, Classes of Licenses, Unauthorized Transfer or Use of Registration, Registration and Certificate Of Title Required (Driving Unregistered Vehicle Prohibited), Display of Registration Plate (Motorcycle Registration Plate), Required Financial Responsibility (Operation of a Motor Vehicle Without Required Financial Responsibility), Operating Motorcycles on Roadways Laned For Traffic (Overtaking and Passing), Traffic-Control Signals (Steady Red Indication), Driving Vehicle at Safe Speed, Obedience to Traffic-Control Devices, General Lighting Requirements (Rear Lighting), Method of Giving Hand And Arm Signals, Operation of Vehicle without Official Certificate Of Inspection, and Unlawful Activities.
On June 24, 2019 at around 8:15pm, An officer observed a motorcycle being operated in the 400 block on North Cedar Street without rear stop lights and with a registration plate displayed incorrectly. The Officer attempted to stop the vehicle near the intersection of East Lincoln Avenue and North Broad Street but the driver fled north on North Broad Street at a high rate of speed. The rider fled at speeds between 80 and 100 MPH while passing numerous motorists. The rider then lost control of the motorcycle on Furnace Hills Pike in the area of Loop road as he attempted to pass another vehicle on the shoulder. EMS was summoned and the rider was transported to an area hospital for non-life threatening injuries. The rider was then identified as Shane PIETSCH.
PIETCH will be summoned to appear in court for a preliminary hearing.
PIETCH is presumed innocent.
