LITITZ BOROUGH - The LBPD filed a criminal complaint against Derek Alan MANZ, age 28, of Lititz, for Strangulation, terroristic Threats, and Simple Assault.
On 11/02/2022 at around 6:12 pm, LBPD officers responded to a 911 call about a domestic disturbance occurring at a residence in the 400 Block of West Marion Street. Responding officers conducted an on-scene investigation and it is alleged that MANZ assaulted and choaked an adult female resulting in non-life-threatening injuries. MANZ had fled the scene prior to the arrival of LBPD Officers.
On 11/02/2022 at around 9:37pm, a LBPD officer noticed that MANZ was back at the residence. Officers made contact with MANZ and when they attempted to take him into custody, MANZ resisted arrest. During the struggle to arrest MANZ, he fell into a table and also fell down a short flight of stairs. One Officer was also injured during the struggle causing the Officer to receive medical care for a sprains. Officers presented a Taser and MANZ complied with directions and was taken into custody. As a result of this incident additional charges of Resisting Arrest were filed against MANZ.
MANZ was transported to Lancaster County Central Booking and afforded a preliminary arraignment. MANZ was committed to Lancaster County Prison in default of $25,000 monetary bail. A preliminary hearing has been scheduled.
MANZ is presumed innocent.
