Following a lengthy investigation, Lititz Borough Police Detective Sergeant John Schofield filed charges against Andrew Brown, 33, of Lititz, and William Hicks, 37, of Lititz, for Arson, Criminal Conspiracy to Commit Arson, Causing or Risking a Catastrophe, and Recklessly Endangering another person. These charges are a result of an Apartment Building fire in the 200 block of East Lincoln Avenue on Monday December 21st, 2015 at approximately 515pm.
On Monday December 21st, 2015 at approximately 515pm, Lititz Fire Company, along with several neighboring Fire Companies were dispatched to an apartment building fire in the 200 block of East Lincoln Avenue. A contractor working at one of the adjoining apartments had heard smoke alarms sounding, and then subsequently located a fire within one of the apartments. He promptly called 911. Arriving Fire crews quickly extinguished the fire and majority of the damage was limited to one apartment. A State Police Fire Marshall was called to the scene and determined the fire was intentionally set within the living room of the apartment were the most severe damage.
Andrew Brown, whom lived within the apartment where the fire originated, cooperated with Investigators and was subsequently charged. He was arraigned at District Justice Edward Tobins office on Thursday January 28th, 2016 and remanded to Lancaster County Prison on $500,000.00 bail.
William Hicks, whom is Andrew Browns brother and who is charged with setting the fire, was arraigned at District Justice Edward Tobins office on Thursday May 5th, 2016 and remanded to Lancaster County Prison on $500,000.00 bail.
Lititz Police were assisted in the Investigation by State Police Fire Marshalls from the Lancaster State Police Barracks and the Lancaster City Police Department.
