On Thursday 24 August 2017 at approximately 0254 hrs. Off. Hamby and Off. Krause were dispatched to a call of a disturbance on the 600 blk. Columbia Ave. Information was relayed via dispatch that a group a people were involved in the disturbance and that someone was overheard mentioning getting a gun.
When the Officers arrived they could hear the disturbance from behind a residence on the 600 blk. Columbia Ave. The Officers were able to speak with multiple people involved. A victim told Off. Hamby that during a verbal dispute, Christopher Vazquez M/28 of Lancaster, had gone to the trunk of a Honda Civic, retrieved a handgun, returned and then pointed the gun at the victim's chest. Vazquez then returned the gun to the trunk of the vehicle. A witness corroborated the victim's account.
Officers located the vehicle. The vehicle was seized pending the application and excecution of a search warrant. A search warrant was obtained and served at approximately 1830 hrs. The search yeilded a Taurus .40 caliber handgun. That handgun had been reported as stolen to the Lancaster City Police Department on 21 August 2017. The search also yielded approximately 56 grams of suspected Marijuana that was packaged in a manner consistent with the sales of such substances.
As a result of this incident, Off. Hamby filed a criminal complaint against Vazquez before MDJ Roth, charging him with Firearms Not To Be Carried Without a License (F3), Receiving Stolen Property (F2), PWID Marijuana (F), Simple Assault (physical menace) (M2), Recklessly Endangering Another Person (M2), Possessing Instruments of Crime (M1), Disorderly Conduct (S) and Fraudulent Use or Removal of Registration Plate (S).
A warrant was obtained for Vazquez. Officers attempted to served the warrant during the early morning hours of 25 August 2017 but Vazquez was not found.
