On February 26, 2017, at 11:46 am, officers from the Lancaster City Bureau of Police were dispatched to the 100 block of Dauphin Street for a reported shooting. The officers arrived and located an adult male victim lying in the street, with multiple gunshot wounds including a head injury. The victim was transported to a local hospital by ambulance and is currently being treated for potentially life threatening injuries. It appears the incident occurred on the street, in front of 119 Dauphin Street.
Officers immediately secured the crime scene and contacted Detectives to assist with the investigation. Investigators are conducting witness interviews, as well as processing the crime scene for evidence. Investigators are also checking cameras from around the area for video footage. Preliminary information indicates that there may have been a verbal dispute between the victim and the suspect prior to the shooting. The suspect was described as a Hispanic male in his 20's, driving a gray sedan. The vehicle was last seen traveling west on Dauphin Street from the scene.
UPDATED INFORMATION 27 FEBRUARY 2017 0030 HRS. – SHOOTING SUSPECT IDENTIFIED
Investigators continued their investigation throughout the day and night for the shooting that occurred yesterday morning in the 100 block of Dauphin Street. Investigators were able to develop a suspect in the case, after conducting a number of witness interviews and reviewing video footage from the area. As a result of the investigation, Detective Lieutenant Kevin Fry has charged Jose Gabriel DUQUE M/20 with one count of Criminal Attempt at Criminal Homicide (F-1), one count of Aggravated Assault (F-1) and one count of Firearms Not To Be Carried Without a License (F-1) before Magisterial District Court: 02-2-01. Detective Lieutenant Fry has obtained an arrest warrant for DUQUE.
If DUQUE is seen or if anyone knows his whereabouts, you are asked to call 911 immediately or contact the Lancaster City Police at (717)735-3300. The investigation into this incident is continuing.

The victim of Sunday’s shooting died earlier today at Lancaster General Hospital. The victim is Daniel Eugenio SANCHEZ, a 19 year-old male Lancaster resident.
The investigation is continuing. An autopsy will be completed and investigators will be consulting with the Lancaster County District Attorney’s Office regarding the charges in this case.

The Lancaster County Coroner's Office ruled the shooting death of Daniel Sanchez as a Homicide. After consulting with the Lancaster County District Attorney's Office, Det. Lt. Kevin Fry re-filed the criminal complaint with the charges ammended to Criminal Homicide and Firearms Not To Be Carried Without a License. Duque is still at large.
