Shooting Investigation 400 blk. Fremont St. 06/15/2016

On Thursday June 15, 2016 at approximately 2330 hrs. Officers from Platoon A responded to the 400 blk. Fremont St. for a report of shots fired. While en-route, Off. Hamby and Off. Burgett observed a vehicle that appeared to be fleeing the area of the shots fired.

The Officers stopped the vehicle on the 400 blk. Lafayette St. When they approached the vehicle the Officers disovered that one of the vehicle occupants had a gun shot wound to the chest. Off. Hamby moved the victim to the Police vehicle and transported the victim, a 23 year old male resident of Lancaster, to the hospital for treatment. Off. Burgett and other Officers stayed with the vehicle and the (2) remaining occupants.

Additional Officers responded to the 400 blk. Fremont St. and located evidence of a shooting. Officers found spent shell casings and a magazine from a semi-automatic pistol on the ground. Officers also found at least (2) parked/unoccupied vehicles had been struck by gunfire as well as the front door to a residence on that block.

The only reported injury from this incident was the victim taken to the hospital by Police. There was information that a high school graduation party had been held at a home close to where the shots were fired. It is unkown at this time if the party or any of the attendees were involved or had knowledge of the shooting.
