On Thursday 10/13/2016 at approximatelty 1138 hrs. Officers from Lancaster City Police were dispatched to LGH for a report of a walk-in patient that had a gunshot wound to the area of the jaw. Officers and members of CID responded to the hospital. Initial information provided by the patient was that the incident occurred in the area of Reservoir Park 701 E. King St. The patient is an (19) year old male resident of Lancaster City. His injury is not believed to be life threatening.
Officers and Detectives checked the area of and around Reservoir Park but no scene was located. No calls for shots fired or suspicious activity had been received prior to the patient entering LGH.
While conducting a follow-up investigation at a residence on the 500 blk. W. Orange St.at approximately 1244 hrs., Investigators found blood on the sidewalk and steps leading to the address they were about to contact. Upon attempting to make contact with any occupants of the residence Officers saw that at least (2) occupants of the home exited the house onto the roof from a rear dormer window. Officers saw that items were being thrown from the target residence to a neighboring yard by the occupants of the target residence. With the belief that evidence was potentially being tampered with or destroyed, Investigators made entry to the home. The males that had gone out onto the roof went back into the home through the window. Officers found that there were (3) adult males inside the home.
The circumstances behind the shooting and the actual location where is occurred are still under investigation. The location on W. Orange St. is curently being secured and Detectives are applying for a Search Warrant for the home. No charges have been filed as of the time of this release. This does not appear to be a random act and there is no danger to the public.
