On Saturday 25 March 2017 at approximately 0504 hrs. Officers from Lancaster Bureau of Police Platoon B responded to the area of the 200 blk. W. Vine St. for a report of an unknown disturbance in progress. Upon arrival, Officers did not find anyone on the block. Officers did locate a blood trail on the sidewalk. The Officers followed the trail on W. Vine St. to W. Strawberry St. and then to S. Water St.
While on S. Water St. the Officers located a 39 year old male resident of the Mount Joy area that had suffered numerous stab wounds to his upper body and right leg. The male was still bleeding and required medical attention for his injuries. The male was taken to a local hospital for treatment. His injuries were not thought to be life-theatening.
Officers established a crime scene perimeter and began to canvas the area for witnesses, suspect(s) and evidence. Investigators from CID arrived and began their part in the investigation. Initial indications are that the patient was involved in a physical altercation with an unknown male suspect in a residence on the 200 blk. W. Vine St. At some point in the altercation, the suspect stabbed the victim with an unknown implement. It is unknown if the suspect was a resident at that location. The victim left the scene and walked to the area where he was found by Officers. The suspect may have been accompanied by an unknown female.
While still early in the investigation, it is believed that the male patient and the person that stabbed him are known to each other. There does not appear to be any danger to the general public. This does not appear to be a random act. We will publish updates on the case as they are known and can be released. The victim had undergone surgery to treat his injuries and was unavailable to provide additional details. Detectives will conduct further follow ups when the victim is able.
