On Saturday 01 July 2017 at approximately 0219 hrs. Officers from Platoon B and Street Operations Group (SOG) responded the the area of the 200 blk. N. Market St. for a report of a fight with a possible shots fired.
Officers arrived and saw people in parking lots on the east and west sides of N. Market St. As Officers began to check the area, a male approached Officers and said that he had been shot. He then pointed to another male and identified that person as the shooter. The victim then said that he was going to the hospital.
Officers were able to detain the male identified by the victim. The male, a 22 year old resident of Manheim Township, was found to be in possession of a Glock 9mm semi-automatic handgun. Officers also located a spent 9mm shell casing on the ground. The male was found to have a valid concealed weapons permit. That male and (3) persons with him were taken to the station for further investigation.
The victim, a 32 year old resident of Lancaster City, arrived at the hospital by private vehicle. He was treated for a GSW to the lower part of his torso and released.
This incident is still under active investigation and Det. Eric McCrady has been in consulation with the Lancaster County District Attorney's Office. No charges have been filed as of Wednesday 05 July 2017. Should any new information come to light and charges are filed, a supplemental press release will be issued. The identity of the persons involved in this will not be released unless criminal charges are filed.
