Pedestrian Struck Hit & Run Investigation 6/17/19 400 blk. N. Queen St. at W. James St.



On Monday June 17, 2019 at approximately 1533 hrs. Officers from Lancaster Bureau of Police as well as EMS personnel responded to the intersection of N. Queen St. at W. James St. for a report of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle. 

The victim is an adult female. She was transported to LGH for treatment. An examination revealed that the victim suffered a concussion and a laceration to the side of her head. The victim also had numerous abrasions to her right arm and right side. 

Off. Karson Arnold is conducting the investigation into the crash. The details of the investigation are that the victim was walking north on the 400 blk. N. Queen St. and approached the intersection with W. James St. The pedestrian victim was in the marked crosswalk and had the proper walk signal to proceed through the intersection. 

The suspect vehicle is a blue Ford Windstar or Freestar minvan. The driver of the suspect vehicle drove north on the 400 blk. N. Queen St. and made a left turn (west ) onto the 1st blk. W. James St. The suspect driver caused the vehicle to strike the victim pedestrian in the crosswalk. 

The suspect driver stopped briefly at the intersection immediately after the crash. The suspect driver then pulled into a private parking lot next to Souvlaki Boys restaurant. The driver stopped in the parking lot and then drove the vehicle from the scene, last seen westbound on Harrisburg Ave. 

Lancaster Safety Coalition (LSC) cameras were able to capture an image of the vehicle on N. Queen St. at Lemon St. just a moment before the crash in the next block. The vehicle appears to have prior damage on passenger side front door and sliding rear door.
