On Thursday May 2, 2019 at approximately 1658 hrs. Officers from Lancaster Bureau of Police, Platoon D, responded to a residence on the 800 blk. E. Orange St. for a report of an home invasion/ assault that had just occurred.

Upon arrival, Off, Witmer found the victim, an adult male, outside his residence. The victim was bleeding from a laceration on his forehead. EMS was summoned for the victim.

The victim told Off. Witmer that he had been sitting in his living room when he heard the back door open and someone walk in. The victim walked to the back of his house and saw that someone had entered his home. The victim described the suspect as an unknown Black male, approximately 6'00" tall with a thin build. The suspect wore all dark clothing, to include a hooded sweatshirt and a mask that partially covered his face and gloves on his hands.

During a confrontation inside the home the victim struck the suspect on the head with a chair and the suspect struck the victim on his head with a pistol.

The suspect  was last seen as he ran east through an alley toward N. Broad St. The victim returned to the house and called 911. The victim was taken to the hospital for treatment and later released.

Given the time frame, location and suspect description, investigators are looking in to the possibility that this incident may be related to a robbery that occurred at the Broad Street Laundry last week.

It is possible that the suspect has some type of visible, recent injury to the head after being struck by the chair.
