Over the past couple days several people have contacted Lancaster Bureau of Police regarding suspicious phone calls. People have reported receiving calls from someone that claims to be a representative of law enforcement. The caller then claims that the person has outstanding warrants. The caller claims that they can satisfy the fines & fees by obtaining a GooglePlay cards and providing the access numbers on the cards. This is a scam. Law Enforcement in Lancaster County will NOT notify you of outstanding warrants over the phone. Sheriff’s Deputies, Constables & Police Officers serve warrants in person. You may receive notice of some types of warrants via certified mail from the MDJ’s office. Should you receive a phone call from someone telling you that you must take care of a warrant with a pre-paid card, it is a scam. Hang up and do not provide or confirm any of your personal or confidential information.
